Pyrgos Restaurant has a long and storied history, dating back to the 1980s when Artemis Denaxas opened a small tavern in the village of Pyrgos. Denaxas was passionate about his island and its unique cuisine, and he wanted to create a restaurant that would showcase the best of Santorini. He also had a vision for creating a fully organized event venue, and Pyrgos Restaurant was one of the first on the island to offer this type of service.

Over the years, Pyrgos Restaurant has grown and evolved. Denaxas’ son, Nikos, took over the restaurant’s administration in the early 2000s, and he has continued to build on his father’s legacy. Under Nikos’ leadership, Pyrgos Restaurant has added more halls, upgraded its facilities and services, and become established as one of Santorini’s premier wedding and event venues.

Once upon a time in Santorini

In 1988, Artemis Denaxas opened Pyrgos Restaurant, a small tavern at the entrance of Pyrgos village. He named it Pyrgos Restaurant, and he began serving delicious dishes inspired by the local gastronomic traditions. The food was made with love and special care, and the tavern quickly became a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The very first spot that hosted Pyrgos Restaurant was located just across the street from where the restaurant stands today.

The New Building

In 1992, Pyrgos Restaurant was transferred to its current location, which offers panoramic views of the island, the vineyards that surround it, and the caldera. The circular construction of the restaurant resembles an observatory, and the wooden décor creates a cozy atmosphere. Our gastronomic standards continuously reach new heights, and we are proud to offer our guests a truly unique dining experience.

When the garden met the caldera

In 2005, Pyrgos Restaurant was renewed with a lavish garden that blends harmoniously with the nature of the island and the vineyards. This made the restaurant even more pleasurable to visit. The restaurant also entered a new era under the management of Nikos Denaxas, the son of the owner.

In 2007, Pyrgos Restaurant underwent a major renovation, transforming it from a restaurant into a complete destination. The main premises were renovated from the ground up, and two reception halls were added. This made Pyrgos Restaurant a versatile venue that could be used for a variety of events, from weddings to conferences to corporate events.

Pyrgos Restaurant is now one of the top event venues in Santorini. To offer a complete and memorable wedding experience, the restaurant built a private church that is now an integral part of the venue. Couples who choose Pyrgos Restaurant for their wedding can now have their ceremony at the picturesque Aghia Fotini church, which is located on the premises.
